Nvidia RTX 4070: Nvidia’s Reflex Technology to be Introduced in Counter-Strike 2
Nvidia is expected to release its RTX 4070 graphics card soon, but the company has not yet made an official announcement about the new GPU. However, the existence of Nvidia RTX 4070 is confirmed by the company silently revealing it.
This latest addition to Nvidia’s top graphics card series was found in a presentation slide showcasing Nvidia Reflex. This technology is going to be added to the game “Counter-Strike 2,” and the RTX 4070 will be available in various retailers in a few days. It is a mystery as to why Nvidia is planning to reveal this new GPU in such a low-profile manner.
Nvidia Reflex is a technology that reduces input lag, shortening the time between your actions and what you see on the screen. This technology is truly impressive in games like “Counter-Strike.” FPS games can benefit more from lower input lag than other game genres, but unfortunately, “CS:GO” does not have access to Reflex. We now know that Nvidia is working with Valve to add Reflex to “Counter-Strike 2,” which is scheduled to be launched this year.
Nvidia seems to have prepared an official presentation slide showing how well the upcoming game works with Reflex technology. To do this, Nvidia compared three GPUs: GTX 1060, RTX 3060, and RTX 4070, which has not yet been announced (but is rumored to exist). According to the slide, Nvidia Reflex can reduce input lag by up to 35% in “Counter-Strike 2.” The lag in GTX 1060 was reduced from 26ms to 17ms, which is a significant improvement. The RTX 4070, which is expected soon, only gained an additional 2ms, but initially had a much lower input lag, making it the most precise with or without Reflex.
The GPU choices in this demo are also notable. While the RTX 3060 may make sense to be included, the RTX 3070 could have been a more suitable option for the presentation. The GTX 1060 may have been included only to make the RTX 4070 look better. However, since Reflex can be used on Counter-Strike 2 graphics cards from the GTX 900 series or higher, this may be why the GTX 1060 is also included in the demo.
There are rumors that RTX 4070 will be released on April 13th. Although the slide confirms the GPU’s existence, Nvidia has not announced an official release date yet. According to leaks, the upcoming GPU will probably have 5,888 CUDA cores and 12GB of GDDR6X memory, and will be priced at $600 in the international market. The way Nvidia announced this new GPU did not seem to increase the excitement, leading people to wonder if the official announcement is being deliberately delayed.
