Electronic Arts, National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and National Women’s Soccer League Players Association (NWSLPA) have announced their partnership. As part of this partnership, FIFA 23 will bring together players of the NWSL teams as well.
Jessica Berman, the commissioner responsible for the US National Women’s Soccer League, commented on the agreement as follows: “The integration of the NWSL into EA SPORTS FIFA 23 continues to push the boundaries of women’s football. This is a watershed moment for the league, its players and the millions of football fans around the world. We are thrilled that world-renowned athletes who see the NWSL as their home will have more opportunities to showcase their talents through FIFA 23. We cannot wait for the game’s fanatics to start playing with the clubs and players in the NWSL; we look forward to players and league celebrations when the 11th season starts on March 25th.”
As of March 15th, all 12 NWSL teams will be featured in the Kick-Off, Tournaments, Seasons/Co-op Seasons, and Online Friendly Match modes on all platforms where FIFA 23 is available. FIFA 23 will also include four NWSL stadiums, as well as authentic jerseys, player faces, trophies, and celebrations.
EA Sports is also working on initiatives outside of FIFA 23 to advance the development of women’s football. Andrea Hopelain, Senior Vice President of Brand for EA Sports, commented on the new agreement: “We are thrilled that EA Sports continues to make a difference for women’s football. Both partnerships with the NWSL and NWSLPA are important steps as an organization to advance this sport. We will continue to be champions of the future of football, exciting millions of football fans around the world, and offering them a unique and authentic experience.”
In addition, EA Sports and NWSLPA will focus on supporting players both on and off the field. Meghann Burke, Managing Director of NWSLPA, commented, “Players are the central actors in fan-focused experiences, fueled by their passions, commitments and perseverance. We are currently experiencing one of the most exciting times for women’s football. We look forward to collaborating with EA Sports to further promote this sport and to allow football fans around the world to interact with talented players in the league.”
